King Saud University Delegation visits Peking University

King Saud University (KSU) has strategic alliances and strong collaborations with leading universities and institutions across the world. KSU aims to further develop more strategic international alliances that bring mutual and sustainable benefits. Part of that strategic plan is a program of international outreach activity, using a range of academic and research networks.  As part of this vision, H.E. Dr. Badran AlOmar, Rector, King Saud University, Dr. Mezyad Alterkawi, Director, International Cooperation and Scientific Twinning Department and Mr. Khalid Alqahtani, Secretary to the Rector, attended 120th-anniversary celebrations of Peking University, and the World University Presidents Forum & Beijing Forum 2018.

Peking University celebrated its 120th anniversary on May 4, 2018.  These celebrations included World University Presidents Forum, May 4-5, 2018, titled “Changes and Constants: Universities and Civilizations during the Past 120 Years.”

The organization of the Presidents gave an opportunity to the university presidents to discuss changes and constants in the Ecology of Civilizations, Global Governance, and the Mission of the University. It also gave an opportunity to the university leaders to learn from each other and to showcase their most innovative and forward-looking programs.

The Beijing Forum has been held annually since 2004 under the auspices of the Chinese Ministry of Education and is supported by the Beijing Municipal Government. The Forum is an international academic event co-sponsored by Peking University, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. Over 5000 eminent scholars, experts, and elected officials from around the world have gathered in Beijing over the years to attend the Forum, demonstrating the event’s relevance and prestige.

King Saud University’s participation in this event was instrumental in bringing both institutions and countries closer. It will also create new opportunities to explore and create new areas for innovative research and joint ventures for mutual benefits.
